Maura has
two decades of experience
working at every level of government ‒ from improving state and federal programs, to advocating for fair taxation and supporting inclusive schools.
Maura started her career in the Peace Corps, teaching schoolchildren in Ukraine.
The Peace Corps gave her both a sense of purpose and a future - she found her calling and she found her partner.
Maura studied political science and public policy at University of Chicago and Johns Hopkins University before going on to work for the US Government Accountability Office and Maine Office of Program Evaluation and Government Accountability.
Maura served for seven years on the RSU5 School Board and five years on the Freeport Conservation Commission. She is co-founder of the non-profit advocacy organization Support Maine’s Public Schools, which organizes and empowers Mainers in support of inclusive public education.
Maura previously served as legislative lead for the Maine chapter of Moms Demand Action, as an organizer for Maine Families for Vaccines, and as a canvasser for Planned Parenthood.
Maura is currently a tax policy analyst and lobbyist at Maine Center for Economic Policy, advocating in Augusta for tax fairness and economic justice in Maine.
Maura lives in Freeport with her partner, two sons, and chiweenie Rosie. She enjoys being outdoors, embroidering, and playing board games with her family in her spare time.
